Old Navy Collaborates With LearnUp, Help Entry-Level Candidates
FREMONT, CA: Old Navy, a clothing and accessories retailer based in California partners with LearnUp to empower America’s workforce. The initiative aims to make learning of basic skills for entry-level candidates easier before they commence the job.
LearnUp, started in 2012 by Alexis Ringwald is a job-training and placement platform and on a mission to empower job seekers in America. They first initiated this mission with Staples- office supply chain store based in the United States. “LearnUp saves time. Managers do not have to screen so many applicants. It pre-screens applicants so that store managers only have to conduct an in-person interview,” says a regional VP of Staples in a Forbes article.
With Old Navy, they are targeting 200, 000+ candidates and prepare them for jobs at Old Navy’s 350 stores across the United States. This move allows applicants to access free online job-specific skills, and help in interview preparation. It also triples their chances to get hired in the market-place. Through this program, both the organizations involved aim towards the improvement of work quality.
“When workers are provided the opportunity to learn in advance, they not only increase their chances of employment, but employers gain access to quality hires who perform better and stay longer. Also, this partnership represents a new model for economic empowerment and opportunity in America,” says Alexis Ringwald, CEO and Co-founder of LearnUp.
According to a Forbes article, Ringwald believes that as applicants learn more about the role they will have in the company, they prove successful employees for the employer. The initiative has also reduced the turnover rate by 30 percent; as a result the cost of hiring and training goes down for LearnUp clients.
